Balls to the Wall

Some workouts are going to be harder than others. Some workouts are going to be sweatier than others. Some workouts will be faster than others. Some workouts will leave you breathing harder than others. Some workouts will leave you more sore than others.

The signature of a good workout is not how sore you feel afterwards, it’s not how hard you worked, it’s not how sweaty you were, it’s not how much you felt you wanted to puke. Every workout has it’s purpose. Balance is key.

Skills take practice. Learning to move your body and control your movements takes practice. Learning how to master a movement so that you don’t leak power takes practice.

Learning how to master a movement so that you don’t injure yourself takes time and mindful practice.

Doing half a push up over and over will only get you better at doing half a push up. Doing a quarter of a squat will only get you better at doing a quarter of a squat. It doesn’t matter how many reps you can do if you can’t perform the movement.

Skill days are just as important as balls to the wall days, if not more.

Slow strength days are just as important as balls to the wall days as you build stability to support faster movements.

Rest is ok. A focus on movement is ok. Hard work is ok. Find your balance.
